All of our therapists are experienced in working with the emotional difficulties human beings experience. Some therapists will have a particular interest, expertise or speciality that matches the issues you might specifically come to therapy for. We will always try to match clients and therapists who we think will work well together. Your assessment is a good time to discuss any thoughts you have in terms of the experiences, skills, knowledge and attributes you’d particularly like in a therapist.

Once we match you with your therapist, we will introduce you to each other. Your therapist will then invite you to make the first appointment.

We offer in-person appointments Monday to Friday, between 8am and 8pm, and online appointments Monday to Friday from 8am to 8:30pm, and on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.
Please note that in-person evening sessions are in high demand and may not always be available. To help us find the best possible match for you, we encourage you to share as much flexibility as you can with your availability for a regular weekly therapy appointment. We’ll make note of your preferred times during your assessment.

Our therapists work on a weekly open-ended basis, and each session lasts for 50 minutes. Many people continue to work with their therapists over a number of years, while for others, shorter term counselling is preferred. Essentially, it is up to you and your therapist to discuss the duration of your therapy, but the decision to continue or end your work is ultimately always yours.

Therapy works best when it takes place weekly at the same time, consistently. This allows for the difficulties you bring to therapy to be worked through safely, with the time and care that is necessary. You can miss four sessions every year without charge as long as you give seven full days notice. If sessions are regularly missed, we may need to consider if our service is the right one for you.

All sessions are charged at £45. Each week, you will be invoiced for your fee via email, which you should pay within 48 hours by bank transfer or credit or debit card; payment instructions will appear on your weekly invoice. The only exception to this is if your therapist is on holiday when there is no charge, when the service closes over Christmas and New Year, or on the infrequent occasion you have given seven full days notice within your four-week allowance.

The honest answer to this question is we may not know why, and this is something you can explore in therapy. However, it is very natural to feel nervous when embarking on a new therapy experience. We are here to help you through the process - our assessment is caring and robust, and we very carefully select the most experienced trainee counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists to work with you. You’re in safe hands.

In our experience, there are four components that when in place, and repeated each week, will ensure you get the most out of therapy:
Turn up to your sessions each week (even when that might feel difficult).
Be as honest as you can. When we are able to be really honest in therapy, (which is really about being honest with ourselves), things change, but this takes time.
Pay your bill.
Repeat 1-3.

Your therapist will listen to your story and to all of the questions you have, and hold them safely with you in mind and heart. Over time, the wisdom you need, your personal wisdom that is unique to you and to your own life will manifest and things will seem clearer.

Many clients come to therapy having been diagnosed with a mental health condition, which has often been diagnosed by their GP. Others may have seen therapists previously, or had a diagnosis from a psychiatrist.
The answer to this question is that we will assess each person on an individual basis. It may be more appropriate for some people seeking therapy to see a qualified psychotherapist, a specialist or be seen in a particular service.
If you have an existing diagnosis of a mental health condition, this in no way precludes you from booking an assessment. Please complete the assessment form with as much information and detail as possible, and during your assessment we will discuss your needs further with you. Our service cannot accommodate people experiencing severe mental illness or who are in crisis. If after assessment we are unable to provide you with therapy at this time, we will do our best to assist you to access another more suitable service or practitioner.
